Wearables are portable electronics that can be carried or worn. You have probably seen some wearables on the market such as smartwatches. Being close to the body, many wearables can act as fitness and health monitors.
Most of these wearables use a smartphone as an intermediary device to connect to the Internet. Wearables generally connect to the smartphone via Bluetooth. The data, which is often stored in the cloud, can give insight into never before seen patterns and behaviors.
A common problem with current wearables is energy consumption. As battery technology develops, wearables could last for much longer and become even more ubiquitous. One concept suggests that wearables might one day harvest energy from everyday movements to power small electronics sensors. Imagine a day when you no longer need to plug in your devices in because your clothes automatically charge it throughout the day.
